Waiting For Jade Eden

We are waiting for our daughter Jade Eden. She is somewhere in China. We started our process in January 2005. After our "paper chase" our dossier of paperwork was sent to China and we were given the log-in date "LID" of July 25, 2005.

11 months old and 2 months home!

Well, we ended the year with a few more visits with friends, such as a trip to San Pedro so that Jade could play with C.W.'s beard. We also had a visit from the lovely Irene who brought Jade a t-shirt that says "God Bless The Whole World - No Exception". January 2nd meant back to work for me, but it was also the day that Jade finally got her developmental evaluation with the Lanterman Center. We are excited to report that she does not need any therapies. She is on target developmentally and the things she is behind on such as her eating and her expressive language can be explained by the fact that before becoming our daughter she had not had solid food and had never heard English. Her fine motor skills are quite advanced considering she has not yet started "finger food". So, we got her a keyboard! She just loves it! Her social skills were actually assessed at the left of a 12 month old!

Todd and Jade started Mommy and me last week.
Todd says that Jade seemed
to like it. The class goes for 8 weeks. When this session is over she will be in the next age group - since the big 1st b-day is fast approaching!!!

There have been a few field trips to my office. Jade went to her first b-day party. Lukas, her first playdate, (see posting dated 12/11/06) , turned 1 year old. Jade was very social and showed her new trick of smiling and waving when she sees a camera.
Best of all, we paid a visit to the wonderful Jody and Tom so that Jade could meet their puppies Aladdin and Sienna. Last but not least, Jade still recognized her mommy when she came home with a new hair-do!
