Waiting For Jade Eden

We are waiting for our daughter Jade Eden. She is somewhere in China. We started our process in January 2005. After our "paper chase" our dossier of paperwork was sent to China and we were given the log-in date "LID" of July 25, 2005.

15 Month check-up and 1st Mother's Day

Well we have officially celebrated our first Mother's Day.
Jade is doing well in restaurants and is able to feed herself grown-up foods like scrambled eggs and french toast (whole grain of course). When we got back home Jade headed straight for our stairwell and proceed to go up it, one step at a time, no crawling, staying verticle, lifting her leg to get her foot to the next step. WHO KNEW? I did stand behind her, holding her hands, to make sure she didn't fall...but did not lift her. The past month has had more activities, birthdays, and watching Jade flourish. We went to Lucy's 4th b-day party. Her first b-day with her mommy Sue and daddy James since she arrived here fom China in February. It was a wonderful time and it was so much fun for Jade to see both Lucy and Erin (whose 1st b-day is shown in an earlier posting). Jade has also learned of the magic of ELMO! She now has two Elmos. One small one, perfect for her little hands, and the other is waterproof for the bath with soap crayons to go in "Dorothy's Fish Bowl".
We also went to Jackson's 1st b-day party in Pan Pacific Park. Jade spent lots of time going up and down a big grassy hill. She got some water from Dada's cup (and poured most of it over her head - it was a hot day).

Last but not least, we had Jade's 15 month check up. She is 31 1/4 inches and 23 lbs 9 oz. The doctor said she is still "long and lean". We went over Jade's development and based on what we described (including the heading up the staircase experience) the doctor told us that we have one smart little girl who is already at the 18 month milestones. The Dr. warned us to keep one step ahead of Jade in the development books! Considering where Jade was just 6 short months ago - we feel truly blessed.

Wow, Jade has grown so much since China! It's great to see her getting so big and flourishing developmentally.
